Ms O’Toole is your Guidance Counsellor:-
Her role as guidance counsellor is to support you in 3 areas.
a) Academically: (choosing the right subjects etc)
b) vocationally – help you choose the right career path
c) Personal and social – this means…………
- Individual Support: This area includes both personal and careers support. Ms O’Toole aims to support pupils in your personal development, help you solve any problems you may have within learning, study, progression and behaviour. An open door policy exists whereby you can avail of this service and your participation is entirely voluntary. The guidance counselling service will provide a caring context for supporting any students that are having difficulties in school.
- Information: Providing you with objective and factual up to date information on educational and occupational opportunities as well as helping you to interpret and use this information.
- Classroom Guidance Activities: Information giving and vocational preparation are examples of items covered during classroom based learning.
